Crybaby
Warning: This game contains content that some people may find offensive.
The first game that I ever made, Crybaby is a simple puzzle-platformer, with several levels and a fully-fledged level editor. The storyline and tone of the game are easily summed up by the following sentence: “The world has been overrun by indestructible babies. Make them cry.”
Crybaby is written in C++ and makes use of the SDL. It was developed in October of 2008 as part of a 48 hour game design competition held by Warwick Game Design. The theme was “Evil”, which I think justifies the whole baby-hitting aspect of the gameplay.
It was co-written by Alan Hazelden.
The Good:
- Relatively complete — it has a level editor!
- Good fun.
- Supports multiple players controlled with a single keyboard. A bug-turned-feature.
- My pixel-art turned out better than I expected.
The Bad:
- Needs more levels.
- No sound effects.
- No full screen support.
- Game assets are too small.
- Some people find its content offensive!
